Title: “Babarlajar Mataram”. Gamelan Musicians of Yogyakarta, Java.
Source Record: Odeon (A278187), release year 1938.
Re-recording on lacquer disc (21.07.2021).

Direct-to-(lacquer) disc recording made in the Media Lab, University of Luxembourg (21.07.2021), on the HMV 2300H using a digital sound file (transfer) of the above 78 rpm shellac disc. Recorded directly from the playback of the HMV 2300H itself, using a steel needle and the device’s own loudspeaker. The blank media used is one of the original EMI blank discs that accompanied the device (EMI was the manufacturer of the HMV 2300H). The date stamp on the box of blank discs is 1948 – the same year as the disc recorder was manufactured.

Mono. 78 rpm.
